Where have you seen these Jane Austen actors before?

Colin Firth, Theo James and more: Here’s where you’ve seen these Jane Austen suitors and heroines before.

Hold on to your top hats! KCTS 9 is excited to announce a collection of Jane Austen shows and movies — all with star-studded casts! Three Jane Austen titles are exclusive only to our KCTS 9 members. KCTS 9 Passport members now have access to Pride and Prejudice (the 1995 classic), Sense and Sensibility (2008) and Mansfield Park (the beloved 1983 mini-series). Due to rights restrictions beyond our control, these three titles are available in the U.S. only.

In addition to our three KCTS 9 Exclusive Jane Austen programs, Sanditon is also available as a Passport member benefit in both the U.S. and Canada.

While watching these Jane Austen programs, you’ll probably spot some familiar faces from Masterpiece and British shows. (Like I’ve joked before, there seems to be a limited number of British actors who we see over and over again.) The stories, ripped from the pages of classic novels, may stay the same, but in every Jane Austen adaptation there are a few stand out performances. You may want to revisit some of the old favorites from this collection because of a few beloved casting decisions — ahem, Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy

So, let’s get to know these new to KCTS 9 adaptations by getting to know the casts. Here are the stars of the KCTS 9 Jane Austen dramas, and where you have seen these suitors and heroines before.

Pride and Prejudice (1995)

Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle in Pride and Prejudice.

Colin Firth stars as Mr. Darcy in this beloved adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. Colin Firth is an Oscar winning actor best known for his roles in The King’s Speech, Bridget Jones’ Diary, Love Actually, Shakespeare in Love and, of course, for stepping out of a pond in wet clothes in Pride and Prejudice. Jennifer Ehle brings Lizzie Bennet to life, capturing all of the character’s charms and flaws from the book. Ehle is an accomplished theater actress, best known for her film roles in Zero Dark Thirty, A Quiet Passion and The King’s Speech.

The Bletchley Circle, My Mother and Other Strangers and Arthur & George alum Hattie Morahan is a PBS veteran. She stars as Elinor Dashwood in this Masterpiece Sense and Sensibility adaptation. Sanditon (2020)

Sanditon on PBS

Theo James gathered quite a following for his role as Sidney Parker in Sanditon on Masterpiece. James starred in the blockbuster Divergent series, but our fans would know him best as Lady Mary’s scandalous love interest Kemal Pamuk on Downton Abbey. Rose Williams, who plays leading lady Charlotte Heywood, is no stranger to a costume drama, you may recognize her from Medici and Reign

Mansfield Park

Sylvestra Le Touzel and Nicholas Farrell star as Fanny Price and Edmund Bertram in the Mansfield Park mini-series. The pair are veteran actors with more than 200 credits between them on IMDB. Le Touzel is no stranger to period dramas or PBS programming, you may have recently spotted her on The Crown, Endeavour or Death in Paradise. Farrell has recently appeared in The Diary of Anne Frank (2010), Persuasion (2008), The Iron Lady, Call the Midwife and Father Brown
