Young Tim (Timothy Mei) overhears a doctor’s conversation with his mother about his brother (Isaac Mei), who lies in bed, dying. The doctor tells his mother that her son doesn’t have long to live and that he will likely pass away before the last leaf falls from the trees outside. Tim decides to do something about it and what follows is the a touching story of one brother trying to save the other’s life. Shot on Super 8, When the Leaves Fall was inspired by the 1912 silent film Falling Leaves, but with a modern-day update.

About the filmmaker

Tommy Tang is a photographer and filmmaker based in the Seattle area. He has worked on independent feature films including Second Nature and Last Seen in Idaho. He also filmed the Miss Universe 2017 pageants in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana. Tang is a graduate of the University of Washington with a B.A. in media and communications.
