Made in four days for the 2013 International Documentary Challenge, Shell Game is the vignette story of Kathleen Flenniken (Washington State Poet Laureate). Flenniken grew up near the Hanford Nuclear Reservation in Richland, Washington, where she later worked as an engineer. Directed by Lou Karsen.

About the Filmmaker

Lou Karsen is a Seattle-based documentary filmmaker and youth media educator with Longhouse Media. His work has appeared in film festivals around the world, on PBS and the History Channel. He is currently co-directing a feature documentary, Clearwater, about the health and people of the Salish Sea.
