Filmmaker’s Statement

When I think about what I do, I think of myself as one of the most fortunate people in the universe! I believe that my mission in life is to tell stories to people about people that will somehow touch people in the most positive, gentle and loving kind of way. I have come to  the realization that people by their nature cannot and will not change. The only thing they can do is to change the way they look at things. As a filmmaker, I strive to perfect my craft daily, by telling such stories that can and hopefully will ignite positive changes in people’s lives.

About the Filmmaker

D. MITRY was born in the former Soviet Union. He immigrated to the United States at the age of 14. In his early 20s, his plays were produced off-off Broadway in New York City and at the Eugene O’Neill National Playwrights conference. After 17 years in various business  occupations, D. MITRY moved to the Northwest and finally found a way to put his writing, musical and directorial skills together. He currently lives in Seattle and makes films full time.

This one is going to stick with me for a long time. A beautiful shade of humanity and I thank you for it.

The movie is really amazing. Recently I have watched it on Netflix. The friendship between these elderly people is wonderfully depicted. Thanks for the nice review.

I just saw the film Shade of Music on PBS - absolutely wonderful!!  I am interested to find out the name of the song they were singing in the very last scene, the birthday party surprise, and the group who was singing - if anybody knows, would appreciate a reply - thank you.
