Weekender: Top Family Events for Seattle and the Eastside

We’ve rounded up outings to please every family in the Puget Sound this weekend!

April 11, 2018

Already planning past spring break? Try these ideas on for fun to last you the rest of the week, weekend and beyond.

  • Sing, dance and play with Northwest Folklife and Seattle Center at Movin’ Around the World. Wednesday celebrates the Polynesian Sounds of the Sea; Thursday is Roots of America; and Friday, join Celebration of Africa.
  • Catch a daytime showing of "Humpty Dumpty" at Olympia Family Theater (Friday).
  • Roll on over to Alki for a Friday Night Skate — just $3 per skater (Friday).
  • Head to a state park for free in honor of Spring Day (Saturday).
  • Take a safari and celebrate the the African Savanna at Woodland Park Zoo for African Wildlife Conservation Day (Saturday).
  • Think sustainable at the 11th annual South Sound Sustainability Expo. It's free with more than 100 organizations expected to attend. Check out the kid's corner for story time with a local author and sustainable arts and crafts (Saturday).
  • Enjoy a free tour of the Arboretum, including hands-on learning activities for kids ages 2-12 (Saturday).
  • Investigate insects (and get a little muddy!) at the Mercer Slough Environmental Education Center (Saturday).

Get kids pedaling (or scooting) on great bike paths for kids on wheels or thumb your noses at the rain and try a super spring hike that's good in any weather. Plan a funky family road trip around Washington, or seek the sun in Eastern Washington. Zip up to the Skagit Valley to gawk at the gorgeous tulip fields and discover a new favorite play place with our guide to the best local children's museums. And don't you know it: Our family fun calendar has dozens of great activities for every day of the week.
