Washington Congressman Adam Smith Speaks Out About President-Elect Donald Trump

Smith says if Russian hacking influenced U.S. elections, it is a direct threat to nation’s security.

January 6, 2017

In conversation with KCTS 9’s Enrique Cerna, 9th District Congressman Adam Smith says Congress needs to investigate the reports of Russian hacking of the U.S. elections. Smith is the ranking member on the House Armed Services Committee. He says he agrees with Republican Senator John McCain’s call for a select congressional committee to investigate the hacking. Smith says he would welcome the opportunity to be a member of that committee. Smith went on to express his concerns about President-elect Trump’s choices for cabinet posts, what Democrats need to do nationally to regroup in the aftermath of the Trump election, and what he is hearing from his constituents in what is one of the most diverse congressional districts in the nation.
