Stick Your Neck Out for Public Television and Support Giraffe Conservation!

August 3, 2018

This August, KCTS 9 is partnering with the Giraffe Conservation Foundation in support of their upcoming giraffe relocation effort, Operation Twiga III (“twiga” means giraffe in Swahili!).  The GCF and their groundbreaking conservation work was recently featured on Nature: Giraffes — Africa’s Gentle Giants.

This unique partnership gives KCTS 9 supporters an opportunity to champion two important organizations with one charitable gift: You’ll support giraffe conservation while sustaining the KCTS 9 programs you rely on.

When you make a sustaining contribution of $10 each month or more (or a one-time donation of $120 or more), simply opt-in by selecting “Giraffe Conservation Foundation” from the Featured Gifts section of the KCTS 9 donor form.  A portion of your donation will automatically be designated for the Giraffe Conservation Foundation – U.S.A. Your contribution will support a ranger for one week in Uganda, while they transport and monitor key populations of endangered Nubian giraffe in the wild, helping to extend their range and ensure their sustainable long-term survival.

The Giraffe Conservation Foundation is the only NGO in the world that concentrates solely on the conservation and management of giraffe throughout Africa.  They are an international, science-based conservation organization that provides innovative approaches to saving giraffe in the wild.

Latest estimates indicate that giraffe numbers have plummeted across Africa to less than 100,000 individuals (a 40 percent loss over three decades). Habitat loss, along with human population growth and illegal hunting (poaching), are considered the main threats to the majestic giraffe.

Join KCTS 9 as we support the Giraffe Conservation Foundation and their innovative work to create a sustainable future for giraffes and their natural habitats.  Your donation can make such a difference.

Thank you for supporting what you love.

Tune in and watch Nature— Giraffes: Africa’s Gentle Giants to see the GCF in action!  See program listings for upcoming broadcasts.
