Maple-Glazed Salmon

An easy way to cook salmon to perfection.
serves 4

  • 1 pound salmon fillet
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pinch cayenne
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper

In a small bowl or glass measuring cup, mix maple syrup, soy sauce, garlic, cayenne, garlic powder, and pepper.
Place salmon in a zip-lock bag and pour in marinade. Marinate for 25 to 30 minutes, and no longer. Turn once at the halfway point.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line a shallow glass baking dish with aluminum foil, remove salmon from marinade, and seal salmon inside foil. Reserve marinade. Place the baking dish in the preheated oven, and bake salmon uncovered 20 minutes. Open foil and finish salmon off under the broiler.
Meanwhile, during the last 15 minutes of cooking the salmon, transfer reserved marinade to a small saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce marinade to a thickened sauce and drizzle over salmon when ready to serve. This step is optional; the salmon is delicious without the extra glaze!
