KEXP presents Steve Earle performing “The Firebreak Line” live in the KEXP studio. Recorded June 23, 2017.

An ode to the forest ranger Ed Pulaski, who in 1910 is said to have saved most of his crew from the Great Idaho Fire. “The Firebreak Line” is meant as a larger tribute to the Hot Shots, an elite group of forest firefighters.
