Introducing the WORLD Channel

Let us show you the WORLD, with a fourth channel from KCTS 9.

February 5, 2019

News junkies and documentary film fans, rejoice! We’ve added a new channel that broadcasts even more news and more opportunities to watch some of your favorite KCTS 9 programs. In addition to KCTS 9 (9-1), PBS KIDS (9-2) and Create (9-3), we now offer a fourth channel — the WORLD Channel (9-4). So, without further ado, let’s introduce you to everything the WORLD has to offer.

The WORLD Channel showcases films and programs from filmmakers, public media stations and partners that celebrate diverse cultures and highlight critical issues like education, healthcare, the environment and politics. WORLD is dedicated to news coverage with repeats of PBS NewsHour (airing nightly at 7:00 p.m.), more Amanpour and Company and international news programs not shown on KCTS 9, like Newsroom Tokyo, NHK Newsline and DW News.

In addition to airing documentary programs you know and love, like Independent Lens, WORLD has developed four original series. America ReFramed airs domestic long-form documentaries; Doc World presents international long-form documentaries; Local, USA provides short-form content on local issues of national importance; and, Stories from the Stage offers a multi-platform storytelling series.

WORLD is devoted to telling stories that humanize complex issues. The channel is carried by 155 partner stations. Visit worldchannel.org to learn more or to view the local WORLD Channel schedule.

The WORLD Channel is on Comcast cable channel 338. The channel is not available in Canada.
