Cascade Public Media Board Nomination Process

Cascade Public Media (“CPM”) has two groups of community leaders who provide support to the organization.

The CPM Board of Directors is the governing body with responsibility for the strategic, operational and financial performance of the organization.  The KCTS 9 Community Advisory Board is charged with educating CPM about the issues and concerns within the region such that the station may be responsive to the needs of its audiences.

The Nominating & Governance Committee of the CPM Board of Directors has the responsibility to evaluate and propose candidates for election to the Board of Directors and to appoint individuals to the KCTS 9 Community Advisory Board.

While terms of service on each Board are aligned with the start of the fiscal year of the organization (July 1st), the Nominating & Governance Committee may propose candidates to the Board of Directors or appoint candidates to the KCTS 9 Community Advisory Board at any regularly scheduled or special meeting of the Committee during the fiscal year.

The Nominating & Governance Committee wishes to consider candidates proposed by the community for service on the Boards as outlined below:

  • Candidate suggestions will be accepted between November 1st and December 15th of each year.
  • Candidates may be proposed by completing the submission form below; all required fields must be completed for consideration.
  • Candidate information will be forwarded to the Chair of the Nominating & Governance Committee for evaluation by the full Committee.  Candidates most closely aligned with the perceived needs of the organization will be considered.
  • The criterion for consideration is subject to change based on the perceived needs of the organization.  The final selection of candidates and appointments is at the sole discretion of the CPM Board of Directors and the Nominating & Governance Committee respectively.
  • Candidates will be selected based on the perceived needs of the organization and the individuals who represent the best match to those needs.
  • The Nominating & Governance Committee will recommend candidates to the CPM Board of Directors for election to the Board.  The Committee will appoint candidates directly to the KCTS 9 Community Advisory Board.

All candidates will receive confirmation of their submission and will be considered along with other individuals as may be made known to the Nominating & Governance Committee.  Submissions will remain under consideration for a period of two years after initial submission; only one submission per candidate will be considered per two-year period.

Due to the limited number of Directors and Members on each board, not every candidate can be selected for service.
