About Lyenyera Myemyetova

"Through the years, we have had countless interns from colleges and universities throughout the state of Washington work on KCTS 9 Connects. But Lyenyera Myemyetova stands out because of her fascinating background. She was an international exchange student from Crimea, an autonomous republic of Ukraine that's located on the northern coast of the Black Sea. Lyenyera was chosen from among three thousand students competing worldwide to receive a U.S. Department of State GLOBAL UGRAD Grant for one year of college study in the United States. She lived with a host family in Tacoma and attended Pierce College where she took a variety of courses. In her resume, Lyenyera described herself as resourceful, focused, mature, and intrepid. She is all that and more. About two weeks before the end of her internship, she asked if I would do an interview with her. She was the first intern to make such a request and I immediately said yes. As you will see in this interview, she is articulate, insightful and proud of her country. I learned a lot from her and you will too."

— Enrique Cerna, Executive Producer and Host of KCTS 9 Connects
