Poetry on Buses: Community Poetry Workshops

Sunday, May 15, 2016 to Saturday, October 1, 2016

This event has expired.

The long-running public art program Poetry on Buses is back this year with a new theme, "Your Body of Water," new languages (focusing on engaging Punjabi, Spanish, Tlingit, Chinese, Ethiopian, and English/African American communities) and new community partners. What is not new is the program's mission to make commute time -- by bus and light rail -- more entertaining and inspiring through the presentation of a diversity of poems submitted by poets from across King County. The selected poems will also be published online at the rate of one per day for 365 days.
King County resident poets of all experience levels are welcome to submit poems of 50 words or less in length on the theme, in any language, through the Poetry on Buses website. Submissions are open up from May 15 to September 30.

The Poetry on Buses program is also presenting a series of free facilitated community workshops at various locations around King County to engage writers of all levels in poetry writing. Refreshments will be provided and attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the program and connect with Poetry on Buses partners. See below for upcoming workshops:
