Pacific Northwest Ballet: George Balanchine's 'Coppelia'

Saturday, April 16, 2016 to Sunday, April 24, 2016

This event has expired.

Based on the book by Charles Nuitter, Coppélia has long been considered one of the best comic ballets to come from the 19th century. Originally choreographed in 1870 by Arthur St. Léon, Marius Petipa restaged the ballet in St. Petersburg in 1884, and Enrico Cecchetti revised it once more a decade later. Balanchine provided entirely new choreography for Act III, and little (if any) of St. Léon's original choreography remains.
