This event has expired.

In the conclusion of this year's Women You Need to Know series, Seattle Arts & Lectures is bringing poet extraordinaire Jacqueline Woodson. Her most recent work Brown Girl Dreaming, winner of the 2014 National Book Award for Young People’s Lit, focuses on her experiences growing up as an African American in the 1960s and ‘70s. She'll talk about the relatives, friends, and locations that inspired the book, giving us a small taste of what it was like for her to let go and remember. Woodson is the author of numerous books for children and young adults, including Beneath a Meth Moon (2012), Peach Locomotion (2009), Hush (2002), and Miracle’s Boys (2000).
