Capturing and Counting Tiny Bits of Plastic Debris in Puget Sound

Capturing and Counting Tiny Bits of Plastic Debris in Puget Sound
Nov. 4, 2010 at Harmon Brewery in Tacoma

A century after the invention of plastic, it's hard to imagine a world without the ubiquitous material in our everyday lives. But where does all that plastic end up? UW Tacoma researcher Julie Masura discusses the ecological threat of microplastics - tiny fragments of plastic that accumulate in the environment - and just how much there really is floating in our oceans.
