Interview With Michael Kirk, Director and Co-Producer of FRONTLINE: Divided States of America

January 17, 2017

Michael Kirk, director and co-producer of FRONTLINE: Divided States of America, talks with KCTS 9’s Stephen Hegg about how the election of Donald Trump is the latest manifestation of the rise of GOP radicalism and how racial tensions, the furor over the bank bailout, the economic recovery and debt-ceiling negotiations have divided not only the Republican party, but the entire country.

The first part of this Frontline special premieres Jan. 17 at 9:00 p.m. Part two premieres Jan. 18 at 9:00 p.m.

Never has there been a President who was at the forefront of rascial division before. He fanned the fires blamed police and after when it was found to be untrue didn't publicly apologize or even set the record straight that he himself had promoted. I am astounded at how much input this President had without regards or care as to his part in all of it. The news media wouldn't even question his office about it because when they did point out his lack of integrity they were shunned by the pressroom so they let it go unanswered. What's really bad is I voted for him the first term and I feel guilty about that where his ego has left him proud seems like of the discord he has himself been party too. No one has ever held him accountable for anything and he has been the most destructive President that ever held office. Now with the pardons etc. Of all 209 people that include convictions for terrorism and espionage I am so ashamed and appalled to say the least. This is going to be his legacy but everyone has been so afraid of him and to be truthful when it comes to him. I don't know where our country is headed when Americans now feel that it is okay to have riots bus people in from Canada all to hurt and harrass a new President Elect on his inauguration day. How are the media going to cover this? Everyone should be ashamed of what is going on right now. Our great country is now acting like thugs and bullies who haven't gotten their way. Help us, we sure need a strong person to get through this destructive time we are in. Thank you. This just got me thinking of all the division as a whole right now.

-Genocide of Native Americans-Theft of Native American land.-Hiroshima-Nagasaki-Iraq War -ISIS-African Slavery-Japanese Internment-America has NEVER BEEN GREAT.
