Back in the 1800s, Washington beavers were being trapped and killed to make pelts. Now, they’re hanging out on golf courses. They’ve come a long way, but they aren’t entirely welcome. Nuisance beavers or, beavers who are causing problems like flooding, downing trees on houses or taking out power lines are being relocated by Tulalip Tribes to forest service land in the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. Previously, relocation of this nature was illegal in Washington state. Beavers that were trapped were required to be euthanized on site.
