In 1962, Jane Morton (then Jane Smyth) was sixteen and living in Ness City, Kansas. As members of the local high school band, Morton and her classmates received a special invitation to represent their state at the Seattle World’s Fair.
The band’s trip to Seattle was followed closely by the local newspaper. Without cell phones, e-mail, and text messaging, the only economical way for the high school students to communicate with family back home was through post cards and letters. Jane’s Mother carefully saved the newspaper clipping and the letters and postcards from Jane and her sister.
Take a trip down memory lane, as Jane shares with us her story.
