I agree with Janet. This is my favourite show, and yet it is frustrating to watch due to the too loud background music which drowns out the dialogue at times. This is not the only show on TV with this same annoying feature.Other than that, cudos to all involved in this intelligent captivating production.

Re: Masterpiece Mystery
There must be some way to get through to the editors of this program that the piercing strings are overpowering the dialogue. It is so grating and such a relief when it stops. In order to hear the undertones of the characters the volume has to be increased which of course increases the sound of the 'background' music. After a short while I just change the channel in frustration. It is a strange thing that the program would be produced in this manner as if the composers are attempting to sell themselves by demanding attention. I do appreciate the music but not when it interferes with the dialogue.
Please convey this to the directors of this program--it is a common complaint with everyone I know.
