We highlight an eye-catching new Seattle structure: the award-winning Terry Thomas building on South Lake Union. The 40,000 sq. foot commercial structure, designed by local firm Weber Thompson, was recently ranked among the "Top Ten Green Projects" of 2009 by the American Institute of Architects. Constructed without air conditioning to save energy, the building features a cooling central courtyard, heat-resistant blinds, and automatic exterior vents to control temperature. The LEED Gold certified building is one of many new structures in Seattle, including the Vulcan developments on South Lake Union, following the green architecture trend.
