Part 2 of 4
In the early 1950s, the Bureau of Reclamation wanted to build a dam in Dinosaur Canyon. Prominent environmentalist David Brower, with the help of the Sierra Club, stopped the project. During this time, Brower published, "This is the American Earth", a book containing a collection of photography by Ansel Adams, Eliot Porter, Philip Hyde, Edward Weston and Margaret Bourke-White. These books were instrumental in drawing people to the environment movement and the Sierra Club.
