Part 1 of 4
Prominent environmentalist David Brower grew up in Berkley, California, where his mother and father established in him a love for the wilderness. Brower grew up to become an avid rock climber and mountaineer. After serving in the U.S. Army during WWII, Brower returned to Berkley to settle down and marry his teenage sweetheart Anne Husk. Together, they became active in the Sierra Club, the oldest grassroots environmental organization in the U.S.
