Learning Curve

Enrique Cerna hosts a roundtable discussion about the importance of early childhood development. Topics include: No Child Left Behind, where kids learn, how to fund education, what other countries are doing and what needs to change. The program works with moms to build relationships with their children. The goal is to break the cycle of crime and neglect that is so common. Between ages of zero and five kids will do a lot of things such as flirt, crawl, walk ,talk, laugh, amuse and invent for the first time. And by the time they are four their brain is 94% the size of an adult. In fact their brain can tell the difference between the sounds of language better than an adult's. School is a mystery and there is a lot to learn.
No Child Left behind could force publicly funded schools to do even more. With the program there is a push to make sure that kids know their alphabet and be sounding it out when they enter kindergarten.
