Last week Seattle celebrated J.P. Patches Day, and plans are under way to build a statue in honor of the Northwest's most famous children's TV show host. Topics will include: the ruling that Tim Eyman's property-tax cap initiative 747 is unconstitutional and Governor Gregoire's response; plans for the 520 bridge; the status of the Sonics; the high price of the UW president's salary; and the price of the Canadian dollar.

Sherman Alexie is interviewed They're the children of the War Brides, English woman who married Canadian soldiers, then moved to British Columbia after the war to start a new life. Despite initial assurances that the War Brides and their children would be considered Canadian citizens, the government is now refusing citizenship to them, denying their pensions after they've lived their entire lives in Canada.
