I am really glad to see Tavis staying in touch with Mr. Steele, even as an admitted Liberal myself. Still it is important not to allow the politics of Chairman Steele's job blind the fact that he has been extremely impressive at both holding his party together and maintaining his appeal. Micheal Steele has unagreeable views on taxation, but he is attempting to transform the social appeal of the Republican Party. As a Pro-Choice advocate Micheal Steele underwent some powerful backlash(Especially here in Indiana, when he and Governor Palin attended a Pro-Life Conference that a local Bishop originally protested his invitation to). In fact, the Evansville Bishop Gerald Gettelfinger decided not to attend the Vanderburgh County Right to Life’s annual dinner on April 16 because of Steele’s comments published online by GQ two weeks before, diocese spokesman Paul Leingang reported. Although he seems to be capturing the attention of the youth in his party with this message. I would point to Megan McCain, as well as an entire pro-choice faction within the G.O.P. called The Republican Majority for Choice. To me Chairman Steele is a naturally refreshing compliment to these young republicans.
