Cranberry Cookies

makes 3 dozen


  • 3/4 cup dried cranberries
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 1 large egg plus 1 egg yolk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans or macadamia nuts


Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Soak cranberries in hot water for 10 minutes; drain. Lightly grease cookie sheets.

In a large mixer bowl, cream together the sugar, brown sugar and butter. Add in eggs and vanilla extract; mix well to combine. Add the cinnamon, baking soda, salt and flour; mix well.

Fold in the oatmeal, cranberries, white chocolate chips and pecans, making sure they are evenly distributed throughout the dough mixture.

Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place 3 inches apart on prepared cookie sheets. Flatten tops a bit with a fork and bake for 11 to 12 minutes, just until edges are lightly browned.

Remove from oven and let cool for 3 minutes. Transfer to a cooling rack.



I cut and paste into 'new message' on my Mac and save it there. I can then save it in a Mac folder if I wish.

These look fantastic, I agree with Cookie Monster, would sub real chocolate chips.
To print: highlight recipe, "copy", go to a new/blank document page (in Word or whatever), click on Edit to get dropdown menu, choose "paste special", then choose "unformatted text". Now you have a document you can manipulate as desired, print, save, etc.


Thank you SO much for the printing instructions! Saving and printing recipes from KCTS-9 and other sites has always been a problem for me. Your easy to follow instructions made it very simple. Thank you for your thoughtfulness.


This cookie was the best of all new recipes I tried this season and I did like the white chocolate chips, a nice change, thank you.


I see this as a real "theme and variations" recipe.

Would be more likely to try them if you had a 'print' option so that I could create a PDF and put it into my recipe file.

I question the use of white chocolate, which is cocoa butter, sugar, etc. and not heart healthy. Why not go for the gusto with real chocolate chips?


I too would appreciate a print option to save this recipe, which looks worth trying.


There IS a print option. Simply hover your mouse over the plus sign (+) in the upper right corner of the page. It presents a window with several different options, one of which is PRINT.
