Hey ocean explorers! Fresh from PBS KIDS is a brand-new underwater comedy-adventure starring Splash, a yellow fusilier fish, Bubbles, a Mandarin dragonet, and their Reeftown friends. Together they meet new creatures and learn about the many different ways life looks and lives under the sea.
Kids will learn about marine biology, ocean science concepts and social-emotional skills such as diversity, individuality and interconnectedness. Content is geared towards kids ages 4–7 but the younger ones will also enjoy the music, bright colors and positive messages.
Parents will appreciate the light-hearted comedy and a cast hailing from Broadway to Sesame Street who lend their musical talents to the show. You may recognize the voices of John Tartaglia (Bubbles) and Leslie Carrara (Splash). If they release a soundtrack from Splash and Bubbles, we will happily add it to our music library for trips in the car and dance parties in the living room.
We previewed the premiere episode “Lu the Explorer.” Splash takes his pals to see his friend Lu (short for bioluminescent) in the abyss. They meet other creatures in the deep and learn: “There’s only one way to get over the fear of the unknown — let’s go there and get to know it.” Our kids gave the show an enthusiastic thumbs up!
Watch the world premiere on Wednesday, Nov. 23 following the new movie Wild Kratts: Creatures of the Deep Sea at 9:00 am on KCTS 9. Splash and Bubbles become part of the PBS KIDS lineup weekdays at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. beginning Thursday, Nov. 24 (except Nov. 25) and weekends at 8:00 a.m. beginning Saturday, Dec. 3.
The series is created by John Tartaglia (ImaginOcean, Johnny and the Sprites), coproduced by The Jim Henson Company (Dinosaur Train, Sid the Science Kid) and Herschend Enterprises (Dollywood, Harlem Globetrotters), and funded in part by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
