Kids & Family Workshops

We at KCTS 9 know that the period from birth to age five is critical to children’s future success in all aspects of life, and have made supporting the early learning community a focal point of our mission to improve the quality of life in the communities we serve.

KCTS 9 is proud to offer workshops for parents and childcare providers in our communities around PBS programs designed to give parents and childcare providers the know-how they need to support thier role as a child's first teacher; in addition, they provide resources and ideas to help children acquire cognitive, social, emotional nad physical skills, as well as nurture language and literacy development.

A Place of Our Own and its Spanish-language companion Los Niños en Su Casa are Peabody award-winning series that specifically address the needs of adults caring for young children. The following nine workshop titles are offered in both English and in Spanish:

In addition to workshops, KCTS 9 provides other resources to meet the needs of young children, including complimentary materials and guides; free books; and the KCTS 9 Kids and Family section of the electronic newsletter all designed to reinforce and support the educational goals and themes presented in PBS's children's programming. We are also a STARS accredited training organization and can offer professional training credit hours through our workshop series.
