KCTS 9 Cooks/KCTS 9 Cooks on the Side
About the Episode
KCTS 9 Cooks on the Side is the 36th edition of KCTS Cooks program! What better way to celebrate Julia Child's 100 birthday than to share one of her favorite styles of food, the side dish! She took us on culinary adventures and shared her enthusiasm and joy of cooking. At the beginning of the show, Julia welcomed you into her kitchen with a warm smile; now let's remember her and share our own amazing side dish recipes.

CREATE KCTS9. Channel 112 on my Tv is the best. Thanks for your show with (on the side) on create Tv this past weekend.
A couple of weeks ago, prior to 11/10/12, you identified your favorite nut chopper, $30. I should have written the name down but ... busy mom ... didn't do it so I would LOVE to have the name so I can buy one. I've been searching for a good, consistent chopper for decades so I'd like to buy yours tested and then favorite one! Tried to find it at your website online but no luck.
Thank you.
This one is tough. I don't have a favorite; just use my mom's old one. Looked at What America's Test Kitchen recommends -- the Zyliss Easy Chop Food Chopper got their best rating for nuts, but nothing was rated well for chopping anything else. It's about $20, and looks like the old one I have. When I was looking this up I found a cheesy-looking one on amazon for the about same price -- the Kitchen King Pro Complete Food Preparation Station. Got great reviews, so I just ordered it. Stay tuned for a post-Thanksgiving review.
KCTS is viewer-supported television, and we do the cooksbooks as a fundraiser, just like Junior League, hospital guilds, etc. If you are a KCTS donor, we're happy to send you recipes on request. Just e-mail cooks@kcts9.org.
We'll post the video segments soon so you can check out the dishes you like!
Can you please send me the recipe for the double cheese biscuits and squash soup. I have donated $150.00 in past (last year?)
Hi Guest,
As Paula said, you can email your request to cooks@kcts9.org.

My wife watched your episode of side dishes and really liked the onion square side dish. As we live in Mexico, we cannot get the cookbook. Would it be possible to get the receipe for this one side dish? Thank you.
Hello, Are you posting the double cheese baking powder biscuits and the squash soup receipe? Thanks Mike
I would love to get the double cheese biscuit recipe as well,if anyone has it,could you please post it,it seems a number of people would like to try it.
Thank you.
I'd like the double cheese baking powder biscuits by Arlene Nolan please. I have recently bought one of the cookbooks from KCTS9 and cannot afford to buy another right now. Thank you.
I enjoyed watching the show, but it was a little frustrating that the actual recipe amounts were not given! It was more just the process, without recipes.
I would dearly love the recipe for the Onion Squares from Lorena Higby of Clinton.
I would also second the suggestion by Renee to lower the volume of the background music during the presentations.
Loved the show! Suggestion for next time - have the background music during the cook's presentation at a lower level. It was difficult to hear some of the cook's dialogue.
How do I get the receipe for one of the receipe shown?
As I said up above I would like the recipes for the onion squares & the cornbread stuffing.
Thank you
Sandi Arie.
Started watching when the Twice Baked Potato recipe was done. I have an old recipe for mashed potatoes done similar to this, but your recipe was much better. I have ordered the recipe book, but would like to try this one very soon and the book won't be here until 6-8 weeks. Thanks.
