Just days after announcing her support of gay marriage, we talk with Washington State Governor Christine Gregoire about the upcoming legislative session that begins on Monday, January 9th. After a special session with little progress, what are her expectations of lawmakers as they deal with a $1.4 billion dollar revenue shortfall? Will she continue to push for a half percent increase in the state sales tax? What are the chances of her newly proposed gay marriage bill passing? Plus, our Insiders Roundtable shares their perspective on the session and the new legislative and congressional boundaries created by the Washington State Redistricting Commission.
Gregoire is the 22nd and current Governor of the state of Washington. Gregoire took office after defeating Republican candidate Dino Rossi in 2004, and was re-elected in 2008. She is the second female governor of Washington. She was the National Governors Association chairwoman for the 2010-11 term.
