Cars, trucks, boats, and snowmobiles—they all have combustion engines that produce toxic gases like dioxide, carbon monoxide, unburnt or partially burnt fuel (hydrocarbons), and nitrogen oxides. Come learn why these gases are of concern and how they differ with different types of vehicles.

Tacoma Science Café is held on the first Thursday of each month. Did you miss a café and want to hear the discussion? Most Science Cafés are recorded by KCTS 9 and are available for online viewing. Tacoma Science Cafes take place at the Harmon Brewery & Eatery and are presented in partnership with Pacific Science Center and KCTS 9.
