Why are Pacific Northwest salmon populations in decline? One factor is the mix of pollutants from urban sources like roads and yards that is carried into salmon habitats by storm-water runoff. At the February 3, Tacoma Science Café, John Stark, PhD, Professor of Ecotoxicology and Head of the WSU Salmon Toxicology Lab will discuss the various factors that lead to declining salmon populations and what our community can do in order to maintain healthy populations of Northwest salmon.

Tacoma Science Café is held on the first Thursday of each month. Did you miss a café and want to hear the discussion? Most Science Cafés are recorded by KCTS 9 and are available for online viewing. Tacoma Science Cafes take place at the Harmon Brewery & Eatery and are presented in partnership with Pacific Science Center, Science on Tap and KCTS 9.
