Banned by Ottoman sultans and Kings of England, coffee has a long an volatile past. In the final History Café of 2011, we take a look at the ways in which coffee and cafes have transformed history, from the male-only coffee houses of 18th-century Europe to the omnipresent espresso stands of present-day Seattle.

RSVP at meetup.com. History Café is held every third Thursday of the month. Many History Cafés are recorded by KCTS 9 and are available to watch online. History Café is co-sponsored by MOHAI, KCTS 9, Seattle Public Library and Roy Street Coffee.
