Grown To Greatness

We take a look at the 30-year celebration of the establishment of the Yakima Valley American Viticulture Area.

Grown To Greatness

Yakima Valley was the first American Viticulture Area (AVA) established in Washington in 1983, and it continues to be the most significant source of quality grapes for Washington wines. There are now 88 wineries in Yakima Valley. Two winemakers share what it was like in the beginning, and getting the industry off the ground. Plus, the overall economic impact – jobs, taxes, and tourism are detailed.
