Omar Rashed and Youssef Hisham are young director and actor duo were in Seattle all the way from Cairo, Egypt for a screening of their film at NFFTY 2013. They stopped by KCTS 9 studios for a conversation about their film, Egyptian cinema, and NFFTY.

The Pacific Northwest will be represented at the second annual PBS Online Film Festival. Three short films, Capsule, Honor the Treaties, and The House I Keep, from KCTS 9’s Reel NW series are among the 25 short films that are featuring in the 2013 festival.

Award winning director Lynn Shelton talks with three of the filmmakers, Eric Becker (Honor the Treaties), Peter Edlund (Love, Seattle), and Jhene Erwin (The House I Keep), from Reel NW season 3 shorts about their work and the film scene in Seattle.

The film recounts the rise, fall, and redemption of Canadian athlete Harry Jerome. One of Canada’s most promising track stars at the age of 19, Jerome was sidelined in the 1960 Olympic Games due to injury.
