- CONVERSATIONS AT KCTS 9
About the Episode
New York Times columnist and PBS NewsHour favorite David Brooks is famous for his work exploring and explaining the way we live. In his new book, "The Social Animal", Brooks takes an in-depth look at how success happens through the sub-conscience workings of our brains, and reveals the deeply social aspect of our minds, while exposing biases in modern culture that overemphasize rationality and IQ. Enrique Cerna talks with Brooks about his new book and current political events.
About David Brooks
David Brooks is a Canadian-born political commentator and journalist currently working for the New York Times to represent conservative views, although he has diverged from many conservatives in his support of controversial issues such as same-sex marriage and his advocacy for pro-choice government regulations. He is a commentator for NPR and PBS NewsHour, and authored the cultural commentary "Bobos in Paradise: The New Upper Class and How They Got There" and its successor, "On Paradise Drive: How We Live Now (And Always Have) in the Future Tense," as well as his latest book, "The Social Animal: A Story of Love, Character, and Achievement."
