A torn cervix (Pamuk??)could have been the problem.
for several reasons:
The operation which involves a running stitch to pull the cervix closed did exist at that time.
Several pregnancies could have occurred but been lost so early, as to appear "not" as a miscarriage.
Once the cervix is cinched tight, the sperm can get in, a cervical plug will develop correctly BUT the mother must get to the hospital for the stitches to be cut before delivery.

all these things seemed to happen in the show.
