KCTS 9 Educational Workshops: Language and Literacy: Infants and Toddlers
Developing a child’s language skills at an early age through communication.
Language development is the foundation for a child's ability to interact with the world. In a way, communicating is an infant's first purpose in life. A baby relies on everyone else to somehow understand her needs. This workshop focuses on how young children start developing language and how we can help them. Participants learn how to help infants and toddlers develop language skills that will help them do better in school and throughout their lives.
Key messages:
- Babies need to hear language, make sounds and get responses
- Talk, sing and read to your baby every day
- Narrate what you do during the day
