Another side of Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson’s untimely death will undoubtedly dominate the news for a while – days, possibly weeks. 24-hour cable channels, newspapers, tabloids, blog-sites and even the major broadcast networks will frantically report every breaking news detail emerging from the circumstances of his death, and saturate us with retrospectives on his life, career, quirks and legal troubles.

They’ll tell us about every facet of Jacko, magnificent or minute, relevant or salacious -- from his early fame and rise to superstardom, to his opulent and often bizarre reign as the “Prince of Pop.” We’ll hear about Michael the brilliant singer and dancer, Michael the owner of menageries and deformed skeletons, Michael the plastic surgery addict, Michael the parent who dangles babies from balconies… the list will be endless.

Without adding too much to the cacophony of coverage, we’d like to share a small glimpse of Michael Jackson. We recently interviewed legendary music producer Quincy Jones for an episode of Conversations at KCTS 9, and asked him about Jackson.

He shared another side of Michael – a young Michael, buoyant from the fame of the Jackson 5, eager and ambitious to start his own career, but still humble, respectful, and learning.

We thought it fitting to share this clip with you again.
