Getting Personal in Tough Times

Part three of Tough Times: Rising Above the Financial Crisis airs on St. Patrick’s Day, a day to wear green and in our case a day to examine the future of our greenbacks in this rough economy. I’m probably like a lot of Americans in that I’m wondering whether I should be investing in the stock market with stock prices down.

Should you stop contributing to your 401K and just hold on to your cash especially with the market struggling?

If you’re in a bind financially, should you take money out of your 401K? What if you have to do so just to make ends meet?

Should I be worried about my bank failing? Should I keep a chunk of cash at home in case things get worse?

Those are some of the questions we’ll address in the third edition of Tough Times and I’m sure you have questions you want answered and that’s why we’re doing the show – to give you answers during these tough times.

Please send me an e-mail with your questions or comments to pose to our studio guests about personal finance issues. E-mail me at ecerna@kcts9.org

Of course, we welcome you to be a part of studio audience for this live show. I’ve included some of the behind-the-scenes photos from our last two shows on jobs and housing.

If you read seattletimes.com, you’ll notice they are providing a link to our Tough Times website as well. The Times is our newspaper partner for this project.

On Friday, I plan to write about the challenges of producing this series.
