Interviewing Annie Leibovitz

KCTS 9 Connects will not air this week.

In its place, we’re presenting Conversations at KCTS 9 featuring my interview with photographer Annie Leibovitz.

Annie Leibovitz and Enrique Cerna

We taped the interview in November when Leibovitz visited Seattle to promote her latest book "Annie Leibovitz at Work". The book reveals a lot about how she became a photographer, the famous people she has photographed and insights into how she comes up with her unique images.

We cover all those things and more in the interview.

My impression of Leibovitz is that she is easy going and very open. She was very cooperative and took time to pose for pictures with me and our staff.

We had a small group of KCTS supporters who came to the studio to watch the interview.

KCTS 9 Audience

Leibovitz took time after the taping of the show to say hello, answer their questions, and sign books.

One moment that stood out was when I introduced her to one of our staffers, Angela Niles, who is the executive assistant to Bresnahan. Angela told me she was a big time Leibovitz fan and I told her to come to the studio and watch the interview. Afterwards, Angela told me she wished she would have brought a book to have signed. I took her over to meet Ms. Leibovitz, who promptly and graciously offered her a book which she then signed for Angela.

I enjoyed interviewing Annie Leibovitz and I think our viewers will find her fascinating. She’s very genuine and a class act.

Scott - KCTS 9 staffer Angela Niles says she has never been to Alaska, much less went to school there.

Just going through this article and am wondering if this Angela Niles went to high school in Alaska. If so can someone there have her send me an email. I went to KHS then (Ketchikan, Alaska) and was curious if it the Angela from my school.

Thanks,
Scott Starks
