Purpose: Manage media and public relations through outreach, research, and writing, and assist in marketing campaigns and initiatives to reach more people, build a great organization and make a positive impact in the community.

Status: Regular, Full-Time, Exempt
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
I.Manage Media Relations
1. Serve as contact for and maintain contact information for external media
2. Identify and pursue public relations opportunities in the local media
3. Write, edit and distribute press releases and other materials as needed for Production, Outreach, Development, the President’s Office and other departments
4. Keep abreast of current media outlets
5. Develop relationships with external media partners
6. Use Access database and web-based tools to manage and contact media
II. Collaborate
1.Research, write, and edit additional materials for targeted audiences, such as news articles, we/multimedia content, style guides, fact sheets, brochures, print/e-mail newsletter articles, correspondence, and annual report
2. Edit content and materials provided by departments for brand messaging, grammar, style, spelling, punctuation, and format
3. Participate in creating strategies for communicating brand identity through print, online, and other marketing materials
4. Promote and attend external events
5. Assist in creating advertising /marketing campaigns
6. Track media coverage for the purpose of evaluating promotion strategies
III. Coordinate
1. Assist and seek assistance to contribute to a productive marketing and communications team environment

QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES
1. BA degree in Communication, Journalism, English, or a related field required
2. Three (3) years in PR or communications leadership required
3. Experience producing articles and press releases required. Excellent proofreading skills required
4. Experience working with senior management, executives, and Board of Directors required
5. Working knowledge of written and electronic journalism standards and practices required
6. Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office software, experience with Drupal (or other CMS), and e-mail list management systems required
7. Working knowledge of digital photography and image transfer and management required
8. Availability to work varied hours including some nights and weekends as necessary
9. Regularly report to work as scheduled
10. Work independently and collaboratively to accomplish responsibilities, goals and projects
